Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research in food processing and sustainability.
The agreement, signed at BHU’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), aims to promote academic-industry collaboration in food technology.
Focus on Research and Innovation
The MoU was signed by Prof Arun Kumar Singh, Registrar and Senior Professor at BHU, Prof U P Singh, Director of IAS and Vikas Gupta, Global Head of R&D at Tata Consumer Products.
The partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange and research development in the field of dairy science and food technology.
As part of this initiative, the Tata Research Fellowship Program has been launched to support research scholars working on innovative solutions in food processing and sustainability.
The program provides funding to selected candidates to advance their research in these fields.
Selection of Research Scholar
Following a rigorous selection process, Ishita Nag, a research scholar from the Department of Dairy Science and Food Technology at BHU, was awarded the fellowship.
She was chosen from a pool of 15 meritorious candidates after two rounds of interviews and assessments. The fellowship will provide financial assistance for three years or until she completes her PhD.
Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration
This collaboration highlights BHU’s focus on research-driven education and TCPL’s commitment to fostering innovation in food technology.
The partnership is expected to drive advancements in sustainable food production and strengthen industry-academia ties, paving the way for future research initiatives.
