Chandigarh: The Punjab government has appointed IAS officer Ravi Bhagat as the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Bhagat, a 2006 batch officer, had been handling the role in an interim capacity after the retirement of VK Singh.
The state government confirmed Bhagat’s appointment in an official order issued on Monday. Before this, he was serving as Special Principal Secretary to the CM.
He will also continue to hold additional responsibilities, including Administrative Secretary of the Public Works Department (Buildings & Roads) and Secretary of the Punjab Rural Development Board.
Bhagat had been overseeing the CM’s office since Singh’s superannuation, but his official designation had not been confirmed until now. The appointment fills the administrative gap left by Singh’s retirement.
With his extensive experience in governance, he will play a critical role in decision-making at the state level.
The Punjab government has yet to announce whether further changes will be made in the administrative setup following this appointment.
