Patna: The Bihar government has promoted Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Amit Lodha to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADG). Lodha previously served as Inspector General (IG) at the State Crime Records Bureau.
His promotion has been effective retrospectively since the date his junior, Ratna Sanjay Katiyar, was elevated. The Bihar Home Department issued an official notification confirming his promotion, emphasizing it as a recognition of his distinguished service.
An IPS officer from the 1998 batch, Lodha is well known for his crime-fighting efforts in Bihar. During his tenure as Superintendent of Police in Nalanda district, he led several high-profile operations, capturing notorious criminals and earning the title of ‘super cop’.
His contributions to policing have been recognized with prestigious honours, including the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and the Internal Security Medal.
Beyond his policing career, Lodha is also an author. His 2018 book, Bihar Diaries, which recounts his experiences in the force, was adapted into the Netflix series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, further cementing his reputation.
Lodha’s promotion underscores Bihar’s continued focus on strengthening law enforcement and governance.
