Dehradun: The Government of Uttarakhand has appointed IAS Anand Vardhan (1992 batch) as the new Chief Secretary, effective 1 April this year, replacing IAS Radha Raturi (1988 batch).
An official order from the Uttarakhand government confirmed Vardhan’s appointment, stating:
“In the interest of work, the government has decided to appoint you (Anand Vardhan) as Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Government from 1 April 2025.”
IAS Radha Raturi has applied for the position of Chief Information Commissioner, with the government set to announce the appointment in April. She is considered a strong contender for the role.
Vardhan is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). His promotion to the top administrative position comes at a time when the state is also anticipating a reshuffle in various government departments.
In addition to Vardhan’s appointment, the reshuffle is also expected in secretarial roles and district magistracies in the state. The upcoming changes reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance administration and ensure better governance across the state.
