New Delhi: Schneider Electric has partnered with Hyderabad-based solar energy firm Freyr Energy to integrate smart home automation systems with rooftop solar technology.
The collaboration aims to offer Indian homeowners a way to monitor and manage their energy consumption more efficiently, supporting the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions.
Linking smart technology with clean energy
As part of the agreement, Schneider Electric’s Wiser Smart Home system will be integrated with Freyr Energy’s solar power solutions. Wiser enables real-time tracking of household energy use and helps optimise power consumption. The system is designed to work in tandem with solar panels, allowing households to reduce reliance on grid electricity and shift to more sustainable energy sources.
This partnership aligns with India’s climate targets under the Paris Agreement, which include a 33 to 35 per cent reduction in carbon emissions from 2005 levels by 2030. While the focus remains on individual households, the collaboration reflects a growing interest in decentralised energy solutions to support national sustainability efforts.
Combining digital tools with solar infrastructure
Schneider Electric will bring its expertise in digital energy management while Freyr Energy will provide rooftop solar systems tailored for residential installations. According to both companies, the integrated solution allows homeowners to visualise and control energy generation and consumption through a unified platform.
Sumati Sahgal, Vice President – Retail at Schneider Electric India, stated that the partnership is part of the company’s broader strategy to embed sustainability into consumer technology. Freyr Energy’s Co-founder and Managing Director, Saurabh Marda, emphasised the need for a comprehensive solution that merges solar energy production with efficient energy use.
