Kolkata: Kolkata Metro has launched new amenities across multiple stations to enhance customer services and facilities.
A digital locker facility was inaugurated at Howrah Metro station on Green Line 2. Commuters can utilise the services of this digital locker for up to 12 hours daily at the Howrah station.
The digital locker allows passengers to securely store luggage of various sizes at reasonable rates. This allows them to attend to other businesses without carrying their belongings.
The digital locker service will soon be expanded to additional stations, including Dakshineswar, Sealdah, Park Street, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar Tollygunge and Esplanade.
The relaxation chair service was also launched at the Esplanade Metro Station on the Blue Line. This amenity would help commuters alleviate tiredness and relax strained muscles at affordable prices. This would improve the overall travel experience.
Similar relaxation chair facilities are being planned for the Dakshineswar station too.
Kolkata Metro is also introducing branded food outlets at various stations. Contracts have been finalised for such outlets at Howrah and Sealdah stations.
Another Multi-Shopping Arcade is opening at the Dakshineswar station. This will offer commuters access to household essentials and daily necessities. The contract for this retail outlet has already been awarded.
Kolkata Metro already has Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) outlets at Netaji Bhaban, Dakshineswar and Sealdah stations. These provide quality medicines at competitive prices. Another pharmacy outlet is shortly scheduled to open at Kabi Subhash station on the Orange Line.
