New Delhi: Amid escalating cross-border tensions and Pakistan’s targeted strikes on Jammu and Jaisalmer today, the government has suspended civil flight operations at 24 airports across five border states.
The closure was confirmed through official NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), which temporarily restricts flight operations, and is part of heightened security measures across northern and western parts of the country.
The latest official document from the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that airports in Kullu (Bhuntar), Ludhiana, and Kishangarh have now been added to the list, expanding the scope of suspended civil operations as the situation along the border intensifies.
The full list of 24 airports closed for civilian flights includes:

- Jammu (VIJU)
- Leh (VILH)
- Amritsar (VIAR)
- Pathankot (VIPK)
- Bathinda (VIBT)
- Chandigarh (VICG)
- Halwara (VIHX)
- Patiala (VIPL)
- Ludhiana (VILD)
- Shimla (VISM)
- Kangra/Gaggal (VIGG)
- Bhuntar/Kullu (VIBR)
- Jaisalmer (VIJR)
- Jodhpur (VIJO)
- Bikaner (VIBK)
- Kishangarh (VIKG)
- Bhuj (VABJ)
- Mundra (VAMA)
- Kandla (VAKS)
- Porbandar (VAPR)
- Jamnagar (VAJM)
- Hirasar/Rajkot (VAHS)
- Keshod (VAKE)
All closures are in effect until 2359 hrs IST on 9 May, unless extended or modified by the concerned authorities. The airports span across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, areas now on high operational alert.
Civil Aviation authorities and airlines have begun issuing passenger advisories and flight cancellation updates. Meanwhile, Indian defence forces are reportedly on high readiness as the situation evolves.
