Chandigarh: As part of a recent reshuffle, the government of Punjab mandated the transfers of nine officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS), including IPS Varinder Kumar, assigning them fresh postings.
According to the Punjab government’s official notification, IPS Varinder Kumar (1993 batch) has been appointed Special Director General of Police (DGP) of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Chandigarh.
The list of other transfers includes:
- IPS Praveen Kumar Sinha (1994 batch) has been assigned dual charge as additional DGP, intelligence, Punjab, and chief director, vigilance bureau, Punjab.
- IPS R.K. Jaiswal (1997 batch) has taken charge as ADGP, NRI, Punjab, SAS Nagar, and is currently marked as awaiting posting, replacing IPS Praveen Kumar Sinha.
- IPS Kuldeep Singh Chahal (2009 batch) has been appointed DIG, Technical Services, Punjab, Chandigarh, against a vacant position.
- IPS Harjeet Singh, a 2010-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as DIG, Training, Punjab, Chandigarh. He will also hold the additional charge of DIG, Bathinda Range, Bathinda.
- IPS Nanak Singh (2011 batch) has been posted to oversee the responsibilities of DIG, Patiala Range, Patiala, following the superannuation of IPS Mandeep Singh Sidhu.
- IPS Varun Sharma (2014 batch) has been transferred and posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patiala, replacing IPS Nanak Singh.
- IPS Tushar Gupta (2018 batch) has been designated as awaiting posting, AIG Provisioning, Punjab, Chandigarh. Additionally, he will serve as SSP, Sadak Surakhya Force, Punjab, Chandigarh, succeeding IPS Varun Sharma.
- IPS Maninder Singh (2019 batch) has taken charge as AIG, Welfare, Punjab, Chandigarh, and will also hold an additional charge as SSP, Amritsar (Rural).
