Agartala: The Tribal Welfare Department of Tripura has rolled out smart classes across 33 tribal hostels.
This initiative could transform education for tribal students and bridge the digital divide in remote areas of the state.
Students from all 33 government-run hostels actively utilised the installed digital infrastructure. This first phase will benefit almost 7000 students with access to different educational resources.
Students from SD Memorial ST Girls Hostel, BKI ST Boys Hostel (Belonia), Melaghar ST Girls Hostel and KBI ST Boys Hostel (Udaipur) embrace the smart classroom facilities at the launch.
The key features of these smart classrooms include live interactive online classes, recorded lectures, multilingual printed study materials, online tests and a comprehensive LMS.
The program also offers motivational and mental health counselling sessions. This ensures holistic support for students.
The Tribal Welfare Department plans to expand the program to 100 hostels across the state. This will equip more students with digital tools and resources.
