Kolkata: The West Bengal government is maintaining special scrutiny in disbursing Rs 10,000 to higher secondary students under the Taruner Swapna project to purchase mobile phones or tablets.
This aid is normally given to higher secondary students of government-aided general schools, as well as technical skill training schools
Instructions have been sent on a new process flow chart to those educational institutions under the Technical Skilling Department on how they would disburse the aid to their students.
Even for students of general higher secondary students, this flow chart will be followed this year. The institutions have started working accordingly.
As part of this process flow chart, students in schools will be given forms to submit their applications.
The students will fill up these forms and submit them along with the passbook and a cancelled cheque of the account where the money will be disbursed. A copy of the Aadhaar card has to be submitted along with.
On the basis of these data, the school authority will register the particular student in the relevant portal.
From the portal, the Aadhaar number will be verified. Even thr back-related data will be verified through NPCI.
Once the account is fully verified, no changes can be made. If any changes are required during the verification process, it has to be made through the head of the school.
Even the head can send this data to the circle head for the re-verification process. Once all these steps are completed, the amount will be disbursed to the student’s account.
All this is being done in the light of the scam last year. In many cases, the money reached different accounts. Later, a contractual school teacher and some non-teaching staff were arrested.
