New Delhi: The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop indigenous solutions for the automotive sector.
The MoU was formalised during the Traffic InfraTech Expo 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in the presence of Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator (R&D in Electronics & IT), MeitY; Dr Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT and Dr P. R. Lakshmi Eswari, Centre Head, C-DAC Hyderabad, along with senior officials from the government and industry.
The collaboration aims to accelerate India’s transition toward smarter, cleaner, and connected mobility by leveraging domestic innovation. It encompasses joint research and development, formulation of new testing standards, advancement of cybersecurity frameworks and exploration of emerging business opportunities in the automotive domain.
Under the agreement, ICAT will engage with the automotive industry to define specific technological needs, while C-DAC will take the lead in designing and developing indigenous solutions. ICAT will further support the initiative through testing, validation, certification and facilitating connections with automobile manufacturers.
Officials said the partnership is poised to significantly reduce dependence on imported technologies and strengthen India’s capabilities in automotive R&D.
By fostering collaboration between key government research institutions, the initiative aligns closely with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, paving the way for a future-ready, Swadeshi mobility ecosystem.
