New Delhi: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has released three draft rules to facilitate the implementation of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. The drafts include the National Sports Governance (National Sports Bodies) Rules, National Sports Governance (National Sports Board) Rules, and National Sports Governance (National Sports Tribunal) Rules.
The Act, which received Presidential assent on August 18, 2025, aims to ensure ethical governance, fair play, and the protection of sportspersons’ interests while strengthening India’s overall sports ecosystem.
The draft Sports Bodies Rules outline the structure of national and regional sports bodies, including the inclusion of sportspersons of outstanding merit, election procedures, and disqualification criteria.
The Sports Board Rules define the framework for the National Sports Board, detailing its composition, appointment process and staffing arrangements. The Sports Tribunal Rules set guidelines for establishing the National Sports Tribunal, covering appointments, service conditions and dispute resolution procedures.
The Ministry has invited feedback and comments from stakeholders and the public within 30 days of publication. The drafts are available on the Ministry’s official website, and responses can be sent by post to the Director (Governance 1), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, or by email at rules-nsga2025@sports.gov.in.
