New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given its approval to a proposal from the Ministry of Coal for appointing B Sairam as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Coal India Limited (CIL).
Currently heading Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) as its CMD, Sairam will take over the top post at Coal India Limited in the Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) pay scale of Rs 2,00,000-Rs 3,70,000. His tenure will begin from the date he assumes charge and will continue until his superannuation on 31 March 2028, or until further directions are issued, whichever comes earlier.
The decision has been formally communicated by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) through the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Copies of the appointment order have also been shared with the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and other relevant authorities for information and follow-up action.
Coal India Limited, the world’s largest coal-producing company, plays a crucial role in meeting India’s energy requirements.
The appointment of Sairam is expected to ensure continuity in leadership and strengthen the company’s operational and strategic direction at a time when the energy sector remains vital to the country’s economic growth.
