New Delhi: The Supreme Court has done a major reshuffle in the higher judiciary with transfer of Chief Justices of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Sikkim High Courts, and elevation of one Delhi High Court judge as the Chief Justice.

The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde has recommended the transfer of Andhra Pradesh HC Chief Justice J K Maheshwari to the Sikkim High Court. In turn, Sikkim High Court CJ A K Goswami has been recommended to become the CJ of Andhra Pradesh HC.
Notably, Andhra Pradesh High Court has a sanctioned strength of 37 judges while Sikkim HC has a sanctioned strength of only three judges.
Also, the collegium has recommended transfer Telangana High Court CJ R S Chauhan as CJ of Uttarakhand High Court, where Justice Ravi Malimath is the Acting CJ.
Delhi High Court’s Justice Hima Kohli has been recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of Telangana.
