New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ along with Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javedkar and Tourism and Cultural Minister Prahlad Patel is scheduled to review the implementation of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ scheme on December 14.
The scheme, initiated in 2015, is aimed at promoting unity across the country. All the CBSE schools, state board schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and schools managed by Union Territories are part of the programme.
The Ministers will analyse the progress made by different departments under the scheme during the review meeting.
The Education Ministry shared the information through a tweet. “Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal along with his colleagues Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Patel, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and State Education Minister Sanjay Dhotre will be reviewing the progress made within (the) Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat programme on 14th Dec at 3PM,” it said.
Under ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched an initiative to promote use of languages other than the mother tongue among the school students.
Students are encouraged to learn at least 100 sentences in an Indian language apart from their mother tongue. Each state is paired with one or two Union Territories and their respective students are supposed to learn about each other’s culture, languages and traditions.
