Guwahati: The government of Assam has dedicated March 31 as student day as a tribute to Upendra Nath Brahma, a social reformer. Several schemes will be launched for students, announces Assam, education minister, Ranoj Pegu.
The Assam government will be distributing 52,000 tablets to schools. Under this initiative, Girl students from minority communities will be eligible for scholarships from the state. A mobility grant has been introduced for girl students in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
In addition to this, UG and PG students will also receive book grants. Schemes such as incentives on mess dues and fee waiver grants to colleges will also be launched on March 31, 2023 at Shankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
In recent news, the state government also announced that it will be creating 819 posts for teachers in tea garden schools. The Assam government will spend Rs 33 crore for this purpose to impart quality education to the students of the tea garden communities, Pegu further stated.
