New Delhi: The Centre recently inaugurated a web portal, known as the ‘AAINA Dashboard for Cities,’ intended to serve as a permanent platform for housing diverse data related to Indian cities.
This initiative, led by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, seeks to establish a comprehensive database of key performance metrics for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
Once populated, the dashboard will be accessible to all stakeholders and eventually open for public viewing, according to an official statement.
ULBs nationwide are encouraged to actively participate in this initiative by voluntarily submitting their key data regularly through a user-friendly data entry form on the portal.
The dashboard will organise and present data submitted by ULBs under five broad pillars: political and administrative structure, finance, planning, citizen-centric governance, and the delivery of basic services.
The primary objectives of the dashboard include enabling cities to assess their performance in comparison to others, inspiring them by highlighting possibilities and areas for improvement, and providing opportunities for learning and engagement with leading cities.
ULBs can submit their data, including audited accounts and self-reported performance metrics, by logging into the dashboard’s portal.
