New Delhi: Ravindra Kumar has officially taken the helm as Director (Operations) at NTPC, commencing his duties on Monday. Prior to this role, Kumar served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Director (Operations) of NTPC Limited.
His appointment to the position was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Kumar assumed his new responsibilities on February 26. He will hold the position until his superannuation on October 31, 2027, or until further orders are issued, whichever comes earlier.
Kumar’s professional journey spans over 34 years, starting with his graduation with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri in 1988. He began his career at NTPC Limited as a Graduate Engineer Trainee officer in 1989, accumulating extensive experience in Commissioning, O&M, Engineering, and Project Management.
Throughout his tenure, Kumar has held various roles within the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) function at NTPC’s Kahalgaon Project. Serving as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Kumar led all Engineering, erection, commissioning, and O&M activities for the project’s 660 MW unit.
Additionally, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, Kumar drove various construction and erection activities forward.
