New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna public sector undertaking, announced its partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai and IIM Sambalpur. The collaboration is set to bring a new era of logistic efficiency and sustainability in coal transportation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), aligning with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021.
The partnership aims to leverage the combined strengths of CIL’s industry experience and the academic prowess of the IIMs to foster innovation in logistics and operations. According to Coal India’s statement, this initiative is expected to significantly contribute to economic growth while promoting environmental sustainability.
The MoU was signed by MCL’s Director (Personnel) Keshav Rao, IIM-Mumbai’s Director Prof. Manoj K Tiwari, and IIM-Sambalpur’s Director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal. The signing ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, alongside Coal India Chairman PM Prasad and MCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday Anant Kaole.
As part of this collaboration, a specialised one-year PGP-Ex program focusing on “Logistics and Operations Excellence through Digitisation” will be offered for the executives of Coal India, including those serving in MCL and its other subsidiaries.
