New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) officially launched its ‘Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP)’. This platform aims to facilitate coordination among stakeholders to combat the misuse of telecom resources in cyber-crime and financial frauds. Additionally, they unveiled the ‘Chakshu’ feature on the Sanchar Saathi portal (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in)
The platform was launched by Minister of Communications, Railway, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan.
During the launch event, Minister Vaishnaw discussed the government’s ongoing efforts to combat cyber fraud at the national, organisational, and individual levels as part of the Secure India initiative. He emphasised the role of DoT’s initiatives, including the Sanchar Saathi portal, in raising awareness and providing citizens with tools to address grievances and protect themselves from cyber threats. The introduction of the DIP and Chakshu platforms is expected to enhance the ability to counter cybersecurity threats.
Dr Neeraj Mittal, the Telecom Secretary, remarked on the launch of these platforms as crucial steps towards protecting citizens’ digital assets from cyber threats. He noted that these initiatives would play a key role in deterring fraudulent activities and the misuse of communication systems.
Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP):
The DIP, developed by the Department of Telecommunications, serves as a secure, integrated platform enabling real-time intelligence sharing and coordination among key stakeholders, including Telecom Service Providers, law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, social media platforms, and identity document issuing authorities.
Chakshu Feature on Sanchar Saathi Portal:
The Chakshu feature enhances the citizen-centric services on the Sanchar Saathi portal by allowing individuals to report any suspicious or fraudulent communication they receive. This includes messages or calls regarding KYC updates, bank account or payment wallet updates, and other scams. Victims of cybercrime or financial fraud are encouraged to report these incidents to the cybercrime helpline or the official government website.
The Sanchar Saathi portal also offers various services, such as verifying mobile connections issued in one’s name, reporting lost or stolen mobile devices, verifying the authenticity of mobile handsets, and more.
