Vijaipur: GAIL (India) Limited has launched its first Green Hydrogen Plant at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh. The new plant has a production capacity of 4.3 tons per day (TPD) of hydrogen. It is generated through 10 MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Electrolyzer units, a process which involves the electrolysis of water using renewable power. This attains a hydrogen purity level of 99.999% (by volume) at a pressure of 30 Kg/cm².
The initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NHM). Initially, the hydrogen produced will be used as a fuel along with natural gas for numerous processes and equipment at the Vijaipur facility. Plans are also in place to supply hydrogen to retail customers in nearby areas, transported via high-pressure cascades.
The plant was inaugurated by Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). GAIL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sandeep Gupta, Director (Projects) Deepak Gupta, Director (Human Resources) Ayush Gupta, and other senior officials also attended the event.
