New Delhi: Three senior IAS officers have been assigned additional responsibilities as Secretaries in the Union government. The announcement comes as per a circular issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
– IAS Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the current Home Secretary, has been tasked with the additional responsibility of Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). He is a 1984-batch IAS officer.
The appointment was made following the superannuation of R Radha Chauhan, a 1988-batch IAS officer, on June 30, this appointment was made. Bhalla will continue to serve in this role until a permanent replacement is appointed or until further instructions are issued.
– IAS Sanjeev Chopra, who is presently the Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Chopra is a senior IAS officer from the 1990 batch.
This occurs subsequent to the repatriation of the current incumbent, Manoj Ahuja, who is also an IAS officer of the 1990-batch Odisha cadre. Mr. Chopra will maintain this position until the appointment of a permanent incumbent or until further instructions are issued, whichever occurs first.
– Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been assigned the additional responsibility of Secretary of the National Commission for Minorities within the Ministry of Minority Affairs, as approved by the Competent Authority.
These positions will be held by all three officials until a regular incumbent is appointed or until further instructions are issued, whichever occurs first.
