Chennai: The state Assembly was informed that the industry partners for Telangana’s Skill University will include Hyderabad, Adani Logistics, O9 Solutions, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, State Bank of India (SBI), National Academy of Construction (NAC), Retailers Association of India, and Telangana VFX, Animation, and Gaming Association.
The Young India Skill University Telangana (Public-Private Partnership) Bill, 2024, was passed by the Assembly, thereby establishing the foundation for the institution. This institution will provide students with the necessary skills to satisfy the industry’s demands. The curriculum will be designed, students will be trained in their respective sectors, and employment will be provided by the partner companies, as announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The university will admit 2,000 students for the academic year 2024-25 and will commence operations from a temporary campus at the Engineering Staff College of India. Initially, it will provide courses in six verticals in collaboration with various industries.
- Dr. Reddy’s Labs will serve as the industrial partner for the School of Pharma and Life Sciences.
- Adani Logistics and O9 Solutions will collaborate to establish the School of E-commerce and Logistics.
- Physics Wallah and the State Bank of India (SBI) will collaborate to establish the School of Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI).
- The School of Construction and Interiors has been proposed by the National Academy of Construction (NAC).
- The Retailers Association of India will collaborate with the School of Retail Operations and Management to administer the institution.
- The Telangana VFX, Animation, and Gaming Association will serve as the partner for the School of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics.
The university will provide a variety of programs, including executive programs, diplomas, certificate courses, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees. Skill University will equip students with the necessary skills to succeed in both the domestic and international markets, with an emphasis on the needs of Telangana. Additionally, it will feature a career development center that will provide instruction in digital and financial literacy, social awareness, communication, and soft skills. The university will be modeled after the Skill and Entrepreneurship University in Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, and Shri Vishwakarma Skill University in Haryana.
