New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and IDBI Bank have partnered to launch a cybersecurity lab. The IDBI- IITM Secure Systems Lab (I2SSL) has been established to create and deploy security solutions in critical sectors.
Many crucial sectors such as Banking, Finance, Insurance, government enterprises, power, healthcare, and telecom face heightened risks of cyber attacks. The I2SSL aims to develop cybersecurity solutions for these industries. The researchers at the lab will work to design test cases, conduct vulnerability research, and underline guidelines to help companies address their cyber-security concerns in real time. Some of the key initiatives of the lab include designing safe systems for applications such as hardware firewalls, point-of-sale devices, and mobile banking, using memory-safe languages, tagged architectures that provide access control, and developing Trusted Platform Modules.
The lab will also create an AI-based forum for malware identification and analysis. The lab was inaugurated by Rakesh Sharma, managing director and chief executive officer, IDBI Bank, and Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras.
