New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has named Vipin Kumar as its Chairman. He is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer from the 1996 batch belonging to the Bihar cadre.
Prior to assuming this new position, Kumar was the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education & Literacy. He was in charge of major projects like the PM-SHRI Scheme, the National Education Policy-2020, and the Samagra Shiksha Scheme. He has also served in a number of important positions in Bihar, such as Director of the Mid-Day Scheme, Chairman of the Bihar Bridge Construction Corporation, Managing Director of the Bihar Milk Cooperative Federation (SUDHA), and District Magistrate for numerous districts.
With an educational background in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Kumar will bring forward both technical and administrative experience in his current position at AAI. It is anticipated that his appointment as the Chairman will help the organization achieve its objectives of developing advanced airport infrastructure, strengthening air navigation services, and raising passenger comfort levels across the country. Kumar’s responsibilities in his new role align with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Bharat-2047” wherein he will support the growth of the Indian aviation sector.
