New Delhi: Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking, has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government to boost renewable energy investments. The agreement was formalized on November 20, 2024, during the Rising Rajasthan Investor Meet in Jaipur.
The partnership outlines a six-year plan to develop renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hybrid systems, and battery energy storage solutions (BESS). SECI’s initiative aims to contribute to Rajasthan’s efforts to become a power surplus state while ensuring a steady supply of clean and affordable electricity.
Key stakeholders, including Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and SECI CMD R.P. Gupta, were present during the signing. The agreement aligns with India’s broader target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030, emphasizing Rajasthan’s role in the country’s renewable energy landscape.
With significant solar potential, Rajasthan has already hosted a range of SECI’s renewable projects. This new MoU aims to expand investments across the energy value chain, including manufacturing renewable energy equipment, to further integrate clean energy solutions in the state.
The initiative can also aid in supporting India’s transition to a low-carbon economy while addressing local energy needs. SECI’s collaboration with Rajasthan is expected to not only boost the state’s energy infrastructure but also contribute to national energy goals.
This development underscores the increasing role of state-CPSU collaborations in accelerating India’s renewable energy push while focusing on sustainability and energy security.
