Chandigarh: The government of Haryana has appointed Vivek Joshi as the new Chief Secretary of the state. He is an IAS Officer of the 1989 batch belonging to the Haryana cadre. His appointment for the post has been cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Prior to this, Joshi served as the Secretary of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). In his new role, he will oversee general administration, human resources, personnel and training, parliamentary affairs, and the vigilance department, in addition to serving as the secretary in charge of plan coordination.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, Officer Joshi pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then earned a postgraduate diploma in International Business from the IIFT, New Delhi. Additionally, he earned an M.A. and Ph.D both in Internal Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
