Bahraich: Indian Bank, in partnership with the Nagar Palika Parishad, Bahraich, has launched an online tax collection portal aimed at simplifying municipal tax payments. The service was inaugurated by Indian Bank’s Executive Director, Mahesh Kumar Bajaj, at an event held in Bahraich.
This initiative marks a significant step toward digitizing municipal services, beginning with Bahraich as a pilot location. The online portal is designed to provide residents with a seamless way to pay taxes, enhancing transparency and efficiency in tax collection. It forms part of a broader plan to introduce digital tax services across 25 municipal bodies in Uttar Pradesh.
The new system offers an alternative to traditional offline tax payments, reducing delays and manual errors. By streamlining the process, the platform aims to improve the operational efficiency of municipal bodies while ensuring that taxpayers have a more accessible and user-friendly option for making payments.
Indian Bank’s focus on digitization aligns with the government’s Digital India program, which seeks to modernize public services and promote financial inclusion. Local residents can now make tax payments without visiting municipal offices, reducing paperwork and saving time.
This development comes at a time when several public sector banks and civic bodies are leveraging technology to address service delivery challenges. While Bahraich is the first location to benefit from the service, the implementation in other municipalities could set a precedent for similar collaborations in the future.
The portal is expected to be closely monitored for its impact on tax collection efficiency and public adoption rates. If successful, it may serve as a model for scaling digital services to other regions, contributing to broader efforts to digitize governance.
