Jaipur: Garuda Aerospace, the Tamil Nadu-based drone manufacturer and service provider, has partnered with Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL) to establish a Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) in Jaipur.
This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for skilled drone pilots across various industries, offering training programs aligned with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) standards.
The RPTO will provide a comprehensive curriculum, including theoretical modules, hands-on flight training, and drone maintenance techniques. Trainees will be prepared to apply drone technology in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure development, logistics, and surveillance.
This initiative is expected to promote the adoption of drones in Rajasthan while creating employment opportunities and fostering innovation in the region.
A Strategic Collaboration
REIL, a Schedule ‘C’ Mini-Ratna enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and the Government of Rajasthan, brings its well-established infrastructure and regional expertise to the partnership. Combining this with Garuda Aerospace’s technological and training proficiency, the RPTO will serve as a world-class hub for drone training.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, highlighted the broader vision behind the partnership, stating: “As we prepare for our IPO, Garuda Aerospace remains deeply committed to building a strong foundation for the Indian drone industry. This partnership with REIL is a crucial investment in that future, focusing on the critical need for skilled drone pilots. By providing high-quality training, we are not only creating job opportunities but also raising awareness about the vast potential of drone technology across various sectors.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dr P. N. Sharma, Managing Director of REIL, said: “We see significant potential for drone technology to benefit various sectors in Rajasthan, and this partnership will play a key role in unlocking that potential. By combining our resources and expertise, we can create a world-class training centre that will equip aspiring drone pilots with the skills they need to succeed in this rapidly growing industry.”
Boosting India’s Drone Vision
Garuda Aerospace is the first Indian company to achieve dual DGCA approvals for drone manufacturing and training, reinforcing its reputation for quality and safety. With six DGCA approvals to its name, the company has already trained over 1,500 drone pilots and established collaborations with international companies such as Lockheed Martin, Sky Drones, and Thales.
This partnership with REIL is the latest in a series of alliances with public sector enterprises, including HAL, BEML, and TIDCO, furthering India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. By empowering local talent with industry-relevant skills and certifications, the RPTO in Jaipur is poised to contribute to India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for drone technology and innovation.
In addition to its domestic initiatives, Garuda Aerospace has secured significant orders from more than 400 clients, including major public sector undertakings and smart cities, and continues to expand its footprint in both national and international markets.
