New Delhi: Indian Railways has launched beta testing for its new super app, SwaRail, aiming to unify multiple railway-related services under a single platform. The app is currently available for testing on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with a broader public rollout planned after feedback evaluation.
One Platform for Multiple Services
Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail integrates key services such as:
Ticket bookings – Both reserved and unreserved ticket purchases
Train status updates – Real-time PNR status and train tracking
Parcel and freight services – Enquiries related to logistics
Onboard food ordering – Access to catering services while traveling
Complaint registration – A platform for passengers to report issues
The beta phase will help refine the app’s features based on user feedback. The railway ministry has urged early users to share their experiences to improve functionality before its official launch.
Simplified Access and Unified Credentials
A key focus of the app is user convenience. Passengers will be able to access all railway services using a single logininstead of navigating multiple apps. The signup process has also been streamlined, and multiple login options have been introduced to improve accessibility.
Shift Towards Digital Integration
The move aligns with the government’s push for digital transformation in public services. The app brings together services that were previously spread across multiple platforms under one system.
In September 2024, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had announced that a super app was in development. Last month, he reiterated in Parliament that the ministry was working on an app that would include unreserved ticket bookings and complaint filing, among other features.
