Diamond Harbour: West Bengal MP Abhishek Banerjee’s 75-day ‘Shebasary’ health camp, serving the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency, has successfully concluded. Over 1.2 million patients from his constituency have received treatment, making it a unique and impactful healthcare initiative.
The health camp started on 2 January and provided health services and consultation to 12,35,773 people. There were general camps organized for 70 days while mega camps were conducted for the other five days.
Some notable interventions of the ‘Shebasary’ camp included the heart surgery of a nine-year-old boy, spinal tumour surgery of a 21-year-old man in a Kolkata hospital as well nerve treatment of a three-year-old boy in Bengaluru.
The camp has arranged for monthly medicines for a woman recovering from breast cancer and taken up treatment for extraordinary lumps of a Kolkata female.
Many patients were provided hearing aids and glasses for free, especially after their cataract operations.
For many patients, checkups were done for free. A little child who swallowed a coin was treated here. Outstation pilgrims to Gangasagar and migratory workers were also treated in Shebasray.
