New Delhi: Parminder Chopra has been assigned the additional charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited for a period of three months. She is currently the CMD of Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC).
Key Achievements at PFC:
In August 2023, Chopra became the first woman to lead India’s largest Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), PFC. Her career also includes serving as Director (Finance) at PFC since 2020 and holding the additional charge of CMD from June 1, 2023. During her tenure, PFC achieved the highest-ever net profit and the lowest NPA levels in the company’s history.
Additionally, Chopra played an instrumental role in securing a Rs. 1.12 trillion Liquidity Infusion Scheme (LIS) for the power distribution sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat program. She was also pivotal in the company’s transformation into India’s largest renewable energy financier, focusing on clean energy initiatives.
Overall Professional Journey:
Chopra has an experience of more than 35 years during which she has contributed significantly at leading power and financial sector companies, including NHPC Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. Her expertise lies in resource mobilization, treasury management, asset-liability management, and stressed asset resolution.
Academic Qualification:
Chopra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University. She is also a qualified Cost and Management Accountant and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. Additionally, she has received advanced executive training in Risk Management and Global Management from prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and the European School of Management.
Chopra’s leadership at REC is expected to bring about transformative changes in the power sector, with an emphasis on sustainable energy financing, innovation, and financial excellence.
