Assam Undergoes Major Bureaucratic Overhaul; IAS Laya Madduri Appointed Director, Economic Affairs

New Delhi: In a significant administrative development, IAS Laya Madduri of the 2010 batch has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi.

Until now, IAS Laya Madduri was serving as the Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Finance Department, along with the additional responsibility of Managing Director, Assam Financial Corporation.

IAS Madduri has been relieved of her duties in the Assam government and will soon assume her new role at the Centre after completing the formal handover process in the state. Her appointment is seen as a major elevation and comes at a time when the Assam government has implemented a large-scale bureaucratic reshuffle to boost administrative efficiency.

The reshuffle has led to several transfers and new appointments across various levels, ranging from Zilla Parishad heads to district and assistant commissioners. The changes are expected to streamline governance and enhance departmental functioning across the state.
