New Delhi: Policybazaar has introduced a free Roadside Assistance (RSA) cover for customers purchasing specific car and two-wheeler insurance policies. This service, previously an add-on, will now be included in policies from select insurers at no extra cost.
Insurers Offering Free RSA
The complimentary RSA cover is available with car insurance plans from Oriental Insurance, Reliance General, ICICI Lombard, Bajaj Allianz, and Digit. For two-wheeler insurance, it is included in policies from Oriental Insurance, Digit, and Bajaj Allianz.
What the RSA Cover Includes
The RSA cover provides 24/7 assistance for common vehicle issues such as:
Breakdown support via a toll-free number
Battery jump-start service
Flat tyre assistance
Fuel delivery (up to five litres)
Locked or lost key support
Taxi arrangement in case of breakdown
Towing services
Industry Trends and Impact
Roadside assistance has traditionally been an optional paid service, with an estimated 50-60% of buyers opting for it separately, according to Policybazaar. By making it a standard feature in select policies, the company aligns with an industry-wide trend of enhancing policy benefits without additional charges.
Manas Kapoor, Business Head at Policybazaar, noted that the move aims to offer better support for vehicle owners facing common breakdown issues. “A dead battery, a flat tyre, or running out of fuel can happen to anyone. Including RSA as a standard benefit ensures customers have immediate help when needed,” he said.
With digital insurance platforms increasingly adding value-added services, including free RSA reflects a wider shift in how insurers structure their offerings. It also raises questions about whether other insurers will follow suit to stay competitive.
