New Delhi: IAS Jitendra Srivastava, an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2000 batch of the Bihar cadre, has officially taken charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power.
His appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Srivastava will serve in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
With over two decades of distinguished service, Srivastava brings vast experience in governance, public administration, and key developmental sectors. Prior to this appointment, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti since January 2023. During his tenure with the government of Bihar, he has held several high-level positions, including Secretary of the Home Department and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
Srivastava’s career reflects a deep engagement in sectors critical to national development, such as power, finance, education, infrastructure, and public health. His grassroots administrative experience, coupled with his understanding of central policy frameworks, uniquely positions him to lead REC Limited during a pivotal time for India’s energy landscape.
An alumnus of Hansraj College, University of Delhi, he holds a B.A. (Hons) in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Cochin University of Science and Technology.
REC Limited, formerly known as Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, is a key player in India’s power sector financing. It supports a wide array of stakeholders, including state utilities, private developers, and rural cooperatives. As a subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation (PFC), REC is at the forefront of financing and promoting power infrastructure across India.
