New Delhi: Hindu College, under Delhi University, has launched a Public Policy Lab in partnership with Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) as part of a CSR initiative, and with support from Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL).
The lab aims to bridge academic research and public policy training for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Focus on Policy Research and Student Engagement
The lab was inaugurated by B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, at Hindu College’s campus. The initiative is positioned to enhance students’ understanding of public policy through a curriculum rooted in research and real-world applications.
The lab’s flagship certification course, Public Policy in Action, has been launched and is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students across disciplines. In addition to classroom learning, the lab will offer national workshops, policy fellowships, and international exchange programs in the coming months.
According to Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, integrating policy thinking into the undergraduate curriculum reflects the growing demand for evidence-based education in governance and public administration.
Role of IRFC and Institutional Collaboration
IRFC, a public sector financial institution under the Ministry of Railways, has extended support through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework. The collaboration with Hindu College is one of the many moves by PSUs to invest in higher education as part of nation-building strategies.
Manoj Kumar Dubey, CMD & CEO of IRFC, stated that the initiative is part of a broader push to build intellectual capacity for India’s policy-making ecosystem.
