New Delhi: Indian technology firm Tata Elxsi has partnered with the European College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP) to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based healthcare solutions for sports and musculoskeletal medicine. The collaboration aims to combine AI and machine learning (ML) expertise with clinical insights to improve injury diagnostics, preventive care, and real-time monitoring for athletes.
AI to Support Evidence-Based Sports Healthcare
As part of the agreement, the two organisations plan to co-develop AI-powered tools that will assist sports physicians in early diagnosis and personalised treatment planning. The focus will be on predictive analytics for injury prevention, real-time physical monitoring, and development of clinical support systems for sports professionals.
ECOSEP, a Greece-based non-profit medical society dedicated to sports medicine, stated that the collaboration would include research initiatives, clinical trials, and engagement with the global sports healthcare community. The organisations also plan to use data science to support 360-degree care for athletes and physically active individuals, enhancing performance while ensuring long-term health.
Industry Engagement Planned at ECOSEP Congress
Tata Elxsi is expected to participate in the upcoming 9th ECOSEP Congress in Düsseldorf, Germany in November 2025, where it will engage with clinicians and researchers to share early insights and explore further areas of joint innovation. According to Nicola Maffulli, President of ECOSEP, the partnership reflects an attempt to integrate disciplines that traditionally operate separately – technology and clinical sports medicine with the goal of building cohesive care solutions. Anup SS, Practice Head – AI and ML at Tata Elxsi, noted that the initiative seeks to bridge clinical knowledge and data science to improve decision-making in sports medicine through intelligent tools.
