Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Pallav Bridge and laid the foundation stone for 94 citizen-centric development projects, cumulatively worth Rs 1,593 crore, across the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Gandhinagar Lok Sabha areas.
The projects span infrastructure, housing, urban health and civic amenities, reflecting a major push for urban development in the region.
Inauguration of Pallav Bridge
The bridge is expected to significantly decongest traffic, accommodating up to 1.5 lakh vehicles daily. It will ease connectivity and reduce commuter travel time, enhancing urban mobility.
Massive Investment in Infrastructure and Civic Services
The day’s events included 31 project inaugurations and 60 foundation stone-laying ceremonies. These covered:
- Citizen-centric initiatives: Rs 394 crore
- Housing projects: Rs 170 crore, benefiting over 1,070 families
- Bridge and flyover projects: Rs. 116 crore
- Water supply and drainage infrastructure: Rs. 86 crore
- Urban health centres, Anganwadis, and welfare facilities: Rs 17 crore
- Garden and cultural projects: Rs 5 crore
Major Urban and Transportation Projects
Key highlights include the Rs. 237 crore Sabarmati-Chandkheda railway overbridge, decorative lighting along the Sabarmati River costing Rs. 131 crore and sports facilities developed under overbridges at a cost of Rs 38 crore.
Water distribution stations were launched in several areas, including Vatva (for Rs. 44 crore), Nikol (for Rs. 38 crore), and Vasna (for Rs. 34 crore).
