Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 26 July inaugurated a new AI-augmented campus of Chandigarh University in Unnao, positioning the institution as a convergence point of technology, tradition and modern education under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP).
The multidisciplinary campus aims to serve as a hub for innovation, skill development and research, aligned with India’s larger digital ambitions.
Addressing the gathering, CM Adityanath underlined his government’s sustained efforts to empower youth through digital and technical education, while promoting active public-private partnerships and reform-driven models in the education sector.
He said the establishment of the new university was a step forward in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs, thereby fostering employability and entrepreneurship.
Highlighting Unnao’s rich cultural and historical heritage, Yogi Adityanath described the district as a cradle of India’s literary and freedom movement legacy, referencing notable figures like Raja Rao, Ram Baksh Singh and poets such as Pt Pratap Narayan Mishra, Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’ and Hasrat Mohani.
With the new university campus, he said, Unnao is now ready for a transformative leap into a tech-driven future.
The CM Adityanath stressed that the new institution will not only offer cutting-edge education but also integrate India’s ancient knowledge traditions with contemporary disciplines. In keeping with the NEP’s vision, the university will promote multidisciplinary learning, research and innovation.
He also pointed out a recurring issue in higher education – the isolation of academic institutions from government schemes and industry outreach.
By fostering better engagement and awareness, the Chandigarh University campus is expected to play a pivotal role in overcoming these challenges and enabling timely career opportunities for students.
