Bengaluru: IPS Karthik Reddy has officially taken charge as the Deputy Inspector General and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru. He replaces IPS M.N. Anucheth in the role.
The Karnataka government’s move to appoint Reddy is seen as a strategic step to tackle the city’s long-standing traffic challenges. With Bengaluru’s roads facing increasing congestion, authorities are turning to technology and strong leadership to ease the pressure.
Reddy brings both. He holds a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from RV College of Engineering (2003–2007). His understanding of technology is expected to aid in deploying smart traffic systems, AI-based surveillance, and data-driven traffic solutions.
Over the years, Reddy has held key positions across the state. He started his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and later served as SP in Bijapur, Tumkur, and Ramanagara. In his last posting as SP, Wireless, Bengaluru, he oversaw the modernisation of police communication systems.
His wide experience in both rural and urban policing is expected to help him manage Bengaluru’s complex traffic network.
