New Delhi: Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia chaired the Annual Strategic Review and Planning Meeting of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for FY 2025–26, attended by Minister of State Dr. Chandra Sekar Pemmasani and Chief General Managers (CGMs) from all 32 Circles.
The meeting focused on strengthening BSNL’s operational efficiency, service delivery, and financial accountability. For the first time, a 12-hour strategic session was held with all Circle CGMs, aimed at reinforcing a decentralised leadership model. He urged CGMs to operate as CEOs of their respective regions, shifting decision-making closer to the ground.
To institutionalise performance monitoring, the Minister announced a structured review framework. Monthly progress reviews will be led by the Minister of State, while quarterly assessments will be chaired by the Minister himself. High-performing circles- Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh have been asked to present detailed case studies in the next quarterly meeting to identify replicable operational strategies.
BSNL reported net profits of Rs 262 crore and Rs 280 crore in Q3 and Q4 of FY25 respectively, the first back-to-back profitable quarters in 18 years. EBITDA rose to Rs 5,396 crore in FY25 from Rs 2,164 crore in FY24, reflecting improved operational discipline.
He stressed the need for measurable improvements in service quality and customer engagement. He noted that sustained growth will depend on aligning financial outcomes with better consumer experience and network performance.
