Kolkata: The West Bengal Tourism Department is developing a new app with intuitive navigation menus and SOS features.
This app is aimed at helping international and domestic visitors to Bengal and will be launched ahead of Durga Puja.
The app will be compatible with different devices and screen sizes.
The app will help tourists locate hotels and other establishments. The SOS feature will enable foreign tourists to quickly request emergency assistance from police, medical services and embassies.
The app will have an option for a Panic Button. There will be geo-tracking-based emergency response assistance and real-time alerts for natural disasters, strikes or route closures.
The app will have Durga Puja as a special feature with details such as pandal locations, events, maps and essential services.
The GPS-enabled maps will show locations of major pandals, details, theme descriptions and even updates on crowds, traffic diversions, weather and emergency alerts.
The tourist-centric app will also provide details on tourism destinations in Bengal, as well as places to stay. This includes hotels, resorts, homestays, guest houses, booking facilities and food joints.
