New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, offering a comprehensive snapshot of India’s higher education landscape.
This year’s list continues to underscore the dominance of premier institutions, such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), while also highlighting the growing influence of state and private universities.
IIT Madras retained its No 1 spot, followed by IISc Bengaluru at Rank 2 and IIT Bombay at Rank 3.
Tamil Nadu led the state-wise tally with 17 institutions in the Top 100, followed by Maharashtra with 11 and Uttar Pradesh with nine. Delhi maintained its strong academic presence with eight institutions.
