Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled an ambitious vision to position Amaravati as a global hub for quantum technologies, announcing a Rs 100 crore award for the first Nobel laureate in Quantum Science from the State.
Launching what is being described as the world’s largest quantum skilling initiative, Naidu said the future knowledge economy would be anchored in Amaravati, much like Silicon Valley shaped the digital age.
In a rare global first, the serving Chief Minister personally delivered a structured lecture on quantum technologies to over 50,000 students and young professionals from across India, marking the formal start of Andhra Pradesh’s Quantum Valley initiative.
The programme is being implemented through a partnership led by WISER (The Washington Institute for STEM, Entrepreneurship and Research), with Qubitech as the India partner.
Within 10 days, registrations had crossed 50,000, with women accounting for 51 per cent of the participants.
Drawing parallels between the IT revolution and the emerging quantum era, Naidu highlighted India’s policy reforms, manufacturing growth and demographic strengths as key enablers.
He said Andhra Pradesh aims to begin producing quantum computers within two years, with applications spanning clean energy, healthcare, agriculture and advanced manufacturing.
Emphasising innovation and product development, Naidu reiterated Amaravati’s role in India’s long-term development goals under Viksit Bharat 2047.
