New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has stepped up efforts to enhance digital security, telecom service quality and citizen-centric delivery across Andhra Pradesh during FY 2025-26 through a series of technology-led initiatives, according to M Nagesh Rao, ITS, Additional Director General Telecom, AP LSA.
Rao stated that a key public-facing initiative was the rollout of the Sanchar Saathi portal and mobile application, designed to protect citizens from telecom fraud and misuse.
Through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), 46,488 lost or stolen mobile phones were traced and returned to users in Andhra Pradesh during the year.
He said the Know Your Mobile Connections (KYM) feature enabled subscribers to check and report mobile numbers issued in their name.
Across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, users flagged 25.18 lakh mobile connections, of which 23.65 lakh cases were resolved.
The Chakshu module allowed citizens to report suspected scam calls and messages related to KYC, OTP and phishing. Inputs were analysed by the DoT’s AI and Digital Intelligence Unit, leading to preventive action, while the RICWIN system helped detect spoofed international calls.
It should also be noted that seven major SIMBOX fraud networks were dismantled in the state.
Rao added that 17.27 lakh connections were disconnected after re-verification, 282 SIM retailers were blacklisted and 63 police cases were registered. DoT also conducted QoS tests and ensured rapid service restoration during Cyclone Montha.
