Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth over Rs. 4,570 crore in Kokrajhar through video conferencing.
During his address, Modi said the government has been working for the all-round development of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) region. He announced that Rs. 1,500 crore has been sanctioned to accelerate development in the area.

Infrastructure and connectivity projects
As part of the programme, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects in the BTC area, including the Assam Mala 3.0 road initiative, four flyovers and two bridges. He also announced the construction of 36 new bridges across 34 districts of the state.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for a railway Periodic Overhauling Workshop at Basbari in Kokrajhar district. In addition, he flagged off three new train services: the Kamakhya–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, the Guwahati–New Jalpaiguri Express and the Narangi–Agartala Express.
Major projects launched in Guwahati
Later in the day in Guwahati, the Prime Minister performed Bhoomi Poojan and inaugurated multiple development projects worth around Rs. 19,680 crore. These include the dedication of the 150 MW Kopili Hydropower Project and the symbolic distribution of land pattas to eligible tea garden workers in the state.
He also dedicated the capacity enhancement project of the Numaligarh–Siliguri Product Pipeline of Oil India Limited, which will support the expansion of the Numaligarh Refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.
Boost to energy, rail and waterways sectors
The Prime Minister also inaugurated Phase 1 of the North East Gas Grid connecting Guwahati with Numaligarh, Gohpur and Itanagar, with a branch line to Dimapur. The project aims to strengthen energy infrastructure across the Northeast.
In the railway sector, Modi dedicated electrification projects on the Rangiya–Murkongselek, Chaparmukh–Dibrugarh, Badarpur–Silchar and Badarpur–Churaibari lines, and laid the foundation stone for the Furkating–Tinsukia rail line doubling project.
The Prime Minister also launched cruise terminals at Bishwanath Ghat in Biswanath district and Neamati in Jorhat district, and performed Bhoomi Poojan for a Regional Centre of Excellence at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh for maritime training and research.
Among other initiatives, Modi inaugurated the approach road connecting Pandu Jetty to NH-27 in Guwahati and launched the PM Ekta Mall in the city.
