₹43 Crore Cleared for Sasa Musa Sugar Mill Farmers
Among the key decisions, the Cabinet approved nearly ₹43 crore to clear outstanding payments owed to sugarcane farmers associated with Sasa Musa Sugar Works.
The move is expected to bring much needed relief to farmers and pave the way for the revival of the sugar mill, which could also create employment opportunities in the region.
Rural Employment Mission to Begin from July
The Cabinet approved the ‘Viksit Bharat-Rural Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission’, which will be launched on July 1, 2026.
The scheme aims to create more jobs and strengthen livelihood opportunities in villages.
Big Push for Irrigation and Flood Control
The Bihar Cabinet approved several projects to improve irrigation and protect flood-prone areas.
It sanctioned ₹251.55 crore for the Dakanala Pump Canal Project to strengthen irrigation facilities.
Another ₹196.89 crore was approved for the Sindhwarani Reservoir Scheme, which will improve canal networks and increase water supply for farming.
The government also set aside more than ₹400 crore for flood control and river management works in 2026-27.
These projects will help protect vulnerable areas and reduce the impact of floods.
The measures are expected to boost farm productivity and improve water management across the state.
Urban Projects Get Major Boost
Water supply and sewerage projects were approved for Biharsharif, Hajipur, Begusarai and Saharsa. The cost of these projects ranges from ₹100 crore to ₹375 crore.
The schemes are aimed at improving drinking water facilities, sanitation and urban infrastructure.
IIT Patna to Get Research Park and Hostels
In a boost to higher education, the Cabinet approved the construction of a research park and new hostels at IIT Patna.
Funds were also sanctioned for the e-Procurement 2.0 system and the BIHAR SNA-SPARSH platform.
These initiatives are expected to make government payments and procurement processes more transparent and efficient.
₹3,662 Crore Cleared for Social Security Pensions
The Cabinet approved more than ₹3,662 crore as advance funds for social security pensions for May, June and July 2026.
The allocation covers old-age, widow and disability pension schemes, as well as the Chief Minister’s Social Security Pension Scheme.
The amount will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring timely payments to lakhs of people across the state.
The government also decided to reintroduce the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from 2026-27. The scheme will provide insurance cover to farmers against crop losses.
Reforms to Attract Investments
The Cabinet approved amendments to commercial tax rules, e-Stamp regulations and private nursing home rules to simplify administration.
It also decided to give more powers to the Investment Promotion Board. The move is expected to speed up approvals and improve Bihar’s investment climate.
With these 25 decisions, the Bihar government has focused on farmers, jobs, infrastructure and welfare, signalling a broad push for development ahead of 2026-27.
