New Delhi, July 10(APAC Media): OpenAI has launched GPT-Live, a new voice model that makes conversations with ChatGPT more natural. The feature is rolling out globally on iOS, Android and ChatGPT.com for all ChatGPT users.
GPT-Live allows ChatGPT to listen and speak at the same time, unlike the older voice mode that waited for users to finish talking. Users can interrupt the AI, ask it to slow down or let it listen without replying immediately. The model also reduces background noise and focuses better on the speaker’s voice.
The new voice experience works with GPT-5.5 for web searches and complex questions. This allows ChatGPT to continue talking while handling advanced tasks in the background, making conversations smoother.
OpenAI has also added new safety tools to GPT-Live. The model can identify conversations related to self-harm and provide crisis support information. It also includes extra protections for teenagers and prevents the AI from copying the voice of a real person.
GPT-Live-1 is now the default voice model for Go, Plus and Pro users, while Free users will get GPT-Live-1 mini. Video and screen-sharing support are not available yet, but OpenAI said these features will be added in a future update.
