New Delhi: Significant discussions took place recently between Indian and Canadian officials regarding potential collaborations and joint ventures in various sectors including electric vehicles, cyber-physical systems, quantum technologies, green hydrogen fuel, and deep ocean mining.
Led by Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan province, a delegation from Canada engaged in talks with Jitendra Singh, India’s Minister for Science & Technology, focusing on partnerships in clean technologies, bioeconomy, bio-based materials, food & agriculture technologies, and affordable healthcare, encompassing pharmaceuticals and biomedical instrumentation.
During the discussions, Minister Singh highlighted the significance of the ‘Global Biofuels Alliance’ (GBA), an initiative spearheaded by India during its tenure as the G20 Chair last year. The GBA aims to unite major consumers and producers of biofuels to accelerate the development and deployment of this sustainable energy source.
In his remarks, Minister Singh extended a warm welcome to the Canadian delegation, emphasising the substantial contribution of the 2.3 million-strong Indian community to bolstering Indo-Canadian relations and fostering development in both countries. He also underscored the strong bonds between academia, research institutions, and industries in India and Canada, emphasising their pivotal role as catalysts in advancing strategic research and development partnerships.
