New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has named Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vikram Mistry (Batch 1989) as the new Foreign Secretary. He is presently posted as the Deputy National Security Advisor ( Dy NSA).
He will take over the office on July 15, 2024, as the current FS will complete his extended term on July 14, 2024. On March 12, 2024, the incumbent FS Vinay Kwatra was given an extension till July 14, 2024. Vikram Misri’s tenure as Deputy National Security Advisor has been cut short because to the press assignment.
Vikram was assigned to the NSA Secretariat in 2022. He previously served as the personal secretary to three Prime Ministers. He worked under Inder Kumar Gujral in 1997, Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2012, and Narendra Modi in 2014.
